Meal Plans at Purdue

What Comes With a Meal Plan?

If you are living in a dorm your freshmen year, which is the case for the vast majority of freshmen here at Purdue, you should be informed of the different meal plans that are offered and what goes along with each one .

The three different meal plans offered at Purdue are shown in the chart below.

Meal Plans

Meals

Dining Dollars
(per semester)

 20-Meal Plan

$125

 15-Meal Plan

$175

 10-Meal Plan

$125

Dining Dollars are an extra perk that come with each meal plan. You can use them at different mini-marts and grills that are located in various residence halls.

Most students go with the 15 or 10-meal plan. It is hard to use up all the meals on the 20-meal plan, especially if you go out of town for a weekend. I am on the 10-meal plan, which is nice, but sometimes I find myself without meals when the weekend comes. For this reason, I would suggest the 15-meal plan. Also, more Dining Dollars allow more trips to the grills and mini-marts which is definitely a good thing.

Dining Halls

There are many places to use your meal swipes on campus. To view a list of the dining halls and their locations, click here. Earhart and Stadium (Ford) Dining Courts are the most popular among students. Hillenbrand, Tarkington, and Meredith Dining Halls are smaller, but usually less crowded.

All serve pretty good food and change what they are serving fairly frequently. All halls offer vegan and vegetarian food, but Earhart and Stadium have a wider variety. To see what they have to offer, click here.

Boiler Express

You also have the option to put Boiler Express money on your card. Boiler Express can be used at many restaurants in the Purdue Memorial Union, various vending machines across campus, to do laundry, and also in the grills and mini-marts. Boiler Express money comes in handy, and is definitely a good thing to get. To find out more about Boiler Express and how to put money on your card, click here.

Open Dining Card

Boiler express dollars can be used in the mini-marts, dining halls, On-the-Go locations, the union, and various vending machines throughout the campus.
