Rec Center and Fitness

Incoming freshman we’ve all heard about the infamous freshman 15. Dining halls, late night pizza runs, and partying in general can contribute to this downfall. Most students forget about healthy eating habits and activities that can help them avoid the unhealthy pit falls of college. This section will concern itself with the Rec Center and the clubs and activities it promotes. The Division of Recreational Sports aims to Attain and preserve excellence in learning by offering opportunities to improve the quality of life by promoting healthy and active lifestyles. The Recreation Sports Center was the first university building in the United States built solely for the purpose of catering to student’s recreational needs. The primary goal of Purdue’s Division of Recreational Sports is to provide quality recreation, fitness and social experiences for students. The Co-Rec, as it is often referred to, is also open to the faculty, staff, spouses and dependents of faculty, staff and students, alumni, and guests of the University community. The Co-Rec is a state of the art building which includes the Colby Fitness Center and Boilermaker Aquatic Center ( which hosted the Big Ten Conference Swimming and Diving championships this year ). In addition to the facilities and activities offered, the Division of Recreational Sports also offers Fitness and Wellness Services for students. All in all the Rec Center offers an abundant variety of activities and services that should be used to the fullest extent.
