Important Websites
In college right now, I use several web sites on a regular basis. If these websites had been made more available to me in the beginning of my college career, this would have proved very helpful. Several of these sites were found by myself by accident, some took me a while to learn, and some were given to me through college veterans. All of the following sites I have found very helpful and have chosen to make them more accessible to incoming freshman from the start.

This site informs people of several intramural activities available to chose from here at Purdue University. This would have been useful to me in the beginning of the semester since when the weather is nice out, it is fun to have an outside activity. Also, these are very good friend-making activities.

This site contains links that allow the user to go on virtual tours of the campus. While these are very helpful in sparking interest, there are other links that provide opportunity for real campus visits and ways to arrange these visits.

This site helps students heading into the College of Agriculture find out some of the things they may be involved with on campus. It also includes news from the college to help students know what is going on in their school. This site alone gives students even in other schools a look at some of the activities Purdue is involved with, thus letting the student know that there are such websites for their own schools.

In the beginning of the school year I needed a website that put many useful links on one page, well this is one of them. It includes links to very helpful sites, such as the one to a transportation link, one to the Bursar’s Office, one to the Office of the Dean of Students, and many more. If you do not find what you are looking for anywhere else, you will find it here or something that will help.

This is the site to visit if you are trying to find information. If you need to know a classmate’s phone number or email address, this is the site to visit. You can access student and staff information on all Purdue campuses by clicking on the directory link. Also it gives access to the
Purdue libraries, and most importantly, to the far right on the site is a list of important numbers for Purdue, such as emergency numbers and directory assistance numbers.

The purpose of this site was to link college students to other college students in their classes, so that they would be able to ask questions and have a better understanding of the materials learned in their classes. While this does work for its intended purpose, it is also useful as a tool to build friendships, and to provide a link between schools at Purdue University, and other Colleges and Universities altogether.

This site houses schedules of events for Purdue University such as job fairs, student activities, and an academic calendar. If you click on one of these, such as the Academics link, the upcoming events for the current month become visible.
