Amanda Sands
My name is Amanda and my major is Nutrition Science. I've lived in West Lafayette for 2.5 years now. Both my parents teach at Purdue and my younger brother and two sisters go to the local highschool. My boyfriend goes to Duke in North Carolina. Before living here I lived in California for 8 years (about 30 miles away from San Francisco). I also lived in Belgium for a year and New Jersey until i was eight. In Belgium I went to a French speaking school, so as well as majoring in Nutrition Science, I am minoring in French. Living in so many places has made me love to travel, especially in Europe. I would really love to study abroad sometime while I'm here. Something that has really been a big part of my life is dance, ballet specifically. I started dancing when I was 4, and in the first couple years of high school I was dancing about 25 hours a week. I recently had knee surgery due to dance realted injuries so I can't dance anymore, but I still teach classes at the Community Center, which I absolutely love.
Angela Steffl
Hello everybody, my name is Angela Steffl. I am from Noblesville Indiana. I was born in California but grew up here (still not used to this weird weather). My high school was fairly large (400 in my graduating class, most went here or IU) so this campus doesn’t seem that big to me. I came to Purdue for engineering. It was the only place I applied so I was really relieved when I got in. I haven’t decided on which discipline of engineering yet but I am looking at Aerospace and Environmental. It is a lot of work but I love it! I am hoping to study abroad somewhere in Europe or Australia in the next few years. I have worked at the Super Target in Fishers since I was 16. Sometimes it’s fun and sometimes it’s my worst enemy. I can be very quiet, don’t take that to mean I’m not interested in something, I just think things out in head my a lot. When I’m not doing homework I really like to watch movies, read, go running, listen to music and hang out with my friends. My favorite TV shows that I watch religiously are ER and all the CSI’s (but the original is still the best). I don’t know if anyone remembers the show Roswell that was on a few years ago until they cancelled it but it was the best!
Beth (Elizabeth Hoots)
I am Beth. I have dark hair that is usually in a ponytail on top of my head because 8:00 is usually to early for me to function. I have a few favorite movies. I like Super Troopers because it always makes me laugh and I have recently developed an obsession with Napoleon Dynamite. If you haven’t seen it, it is funny and random, I quote it all the time with my friends, they get annoyed. My actor crush is Matt Damon, I’ve been in love with him ever since I watched Good Will Hunting. My favorite actress is Angelina Jolie, and if I ever went on that show on MTV where they give you plastic surgery to look like someone, I would want to look like Catherine Zeta-Jones. My favorite television drama is Nip/Tuck, I have season one if anyone wants to watch it. My favorite comedy is Will and Grace. My favorite hobbies are eating, sleeping, and watching TV, pretty much anything that doesn’t have to do with school. I am a very social person so I also like being around people.
Bob (Robert Stevens)
Hey everyone, this is Bob. I’m currently in undergraduate studies this semester, but next semester I am going to be in Health Sciences, hopefully studying medical technology. I went to Bishop Dwenger High School in Ft. Wayne, and have gone to Catholic Schools all my life. Purdue is a real adjustment for me, I’m not used to being able to just wake up and wear whatever to class, usually I had to wear a shirt and tie to class. But anyways, I love this school, my whole family has gone here and my younger brother and sister will probably go here as well. I hope this English class is easy, and I hope I get an A because I promised my parents I would try to get strait A’s this semester. Most of my good friends go here to Purdue and the rest go to the dark side (AKA Indiana University) or Ball State. I love to hang out and I also enjoy working out and playing with fire. If you ask my friends they will tell you that I am quite the pyro. I also like motorcycles, not the crotch-rockets but the old big cruisers like the Harley Fat boy or the Indian Super classic. My dream is to one day build my own chopper. I love those bikes.
Cat (Cathrine Amelia Shuler)
My name is Cat and I'm a PhD student in Rhetoric and Composition.

Danny Kim
Hi Everyone, I’m Danny. I’m currently a freshman here at Purdue University. I’m studying Industrial Management, which is half engineering, half management. I was accepted to Purdue with Economic major but before 1st started, I change my major to General Management, and I decide to change again to Industrial Management in 2nd semester. As you can see, I have no idea what I want to do or what I want to be later on. I think it’s because I’m very gullible and indecisive person. I’m from Chicago, but I was born in South Korea, came to USA when I was 6th grade, year 1997. English is my secondary language and I definitely fall behind this area. Especially when it comes to writing, I must say I suck. My writing is full of mistakes. Anyways, I lived in north suburb of Chicago, and believe it or not, I attended the “famous” high school name Glenbrook North. I’m sure you guys heard of my school on news for “hazing incident”. This incident spread around the world like lighting. However, I’m still proud of my school. My school was in top5 best public high school in Illinois, 1st in SAT score, 2nd in ACT in our division. I think my high school definitely prepared me for college more then other high schools. I’m very athletic person. During high school, I was in Varsity soccer, football, swimming and Track & Field. Especially Track & Field, I was in Varsity since freshman year, and in my senior year, I was #1 runner in my school. Since junior year, I went to sectional meet and in my senior I almost went to State but due to my injury, I couldn’t. My specialty is 100m and 400m. I went to Korean Olympic held in Texas during my junior year and got gold medal. I’m planning to go to Korean Olympic again this year, which will be held at Philadelphia. I’m without doubt a night person. Waking up in the morning is the hardest thing. My usual sleep time is 3am. Especially my 1st semester schedule was ridiculous. I went to bed at 9. That is not 9pm but 9 am. I would stay up all night, go to my 7:30am class, come back to my dorm and sleep until 3 pm. Then I would go to 3:30 class and 4:30 classes. This life cycle started because every Friday and Saturday, I would go out, chill with my friends and go to sleep around 8am. So then by Sunday, if I tried to go to sleep “on time”, I couldn’t. I tried to go to sleep at 4am but I still couldn’t. How sad is that??? So then by 2nd week of 1st semester, I decided to stay up all night, go to my 7:30 class and sleep till my next class which was at 3:30. Coincidently, my schedule worked out.
Jamie Petersen
Hello everyone, my name is Jamie Petersen and I am a freshman in the school of liberal arts. As of now, I am majoring in psychology and double minoring in sociology and law & society. I am from South Bend, Indiana. I went to Penn High School, which is one of the largest high schools in the state. Its enrollment is 3,000 students and I graduated with 700 people. I am very used to being in a school where I know almost no one. My dad is an electrical engineer and he, of course, went to Purdue. My mom is a fifth grade teacher and she went to Marquette. I have a younger sister, Erin, who is sixteen, and when I was a freshmen in high school, my mother got pregnant. So, I now have a 3 and a half year old brother! It's very odd to have a sibling 15 years younger than you. My dad's side of the family greatly differs from my mom's side. My dad is Jewish and my mom is an Italian Catholic. My mom's side of the family is, of course, Italian, and I feel very lucky to have such a strong ethnic background. She is the only person in her family to marry someone who is not Italian, let alone not Catholic! Her family is very, very close. When my mother’s family came to this country, my great-grandmother's brother moved to California. Even though he passed away over ten years ago, we are still very close to his children, and grand-children. In fact, he has a grand-child, Sarah, who is exactly my age and is one of my best friends. I am going to stay with her this spring break. Even though there are 2,500 miles separating us, we are still very close.
Jessica Hamilton
Hi, my name is Jessica Hamilton and I am currently a freshman studying Forensic Psychology at Purdue. I am thinking about changing my major to Criminal Law, but that's not for sure yet. I am from South Bend, Indiana. It is way up north by Michigan almost. I've lived there for just about my entire life. The University of Notre Dame is about two minutes from my house and I am a huge Notre Dame fan. The Notre Dame woman's basketball coach lives right down the street from me. All through highschool, I've played sports. I'm really big into volleyball, but I also played basketball for a year and diving for three years. My favorite sport would have to be volleyball, though. I've played since I was about 8 years old on a club team called Network and then I moved to a club called Dunes. As far as family goes, I have a sister and a brother. My sister, Erika, is 15 and my brother, Josh, is 9. I also have 2 dogs, a rott and a puggle. The puggle, Sawyer, is my favorite. She has the most human-like characteristics I have ever seen in a dog. She can do just about everything other than talk. My future plans include finishing up my undergrad at Purdue and then for my masters and doctrate, I would like to go to Notre Dame or the University of Chicago. Chicago is one of my most favorite cities and I would not mind starting my career out there.
Jordan Selking
My name is Jordan Selking and I’m from Decatur, Indiana. For those who don't know where Decatur is it's about a half and hour south of Fort Wayne. I live in a family of seven on a farm in the country. I have seven chickens, two ducks, and two dogs. I also have three younger brothers, who act like animals, and one older brother, who I shoot my bow with a lot. I also have a nephew who is one. Surprisingly I played many sports in high school. I was on the JV track team for a year, JV soccer team for a year, and the JV basketball team for a year. I was on the Varsity track team for two years, the Varsity soccer, cross country, and football teams for one year. I also like to shoot my bow with my older brother. We go hunting in my home town, and do many archery shoots. An archery shoot is basically just a bunch of fake animals set up at different yardages. As far as school goes I pretty much wasted my whole first semester. After my first semester I switched my major like half the freshmen do here. My first semester I was enrolled in Landscape Architecture, but am now in the process if codoing into Management. I hope to work at a family business when I am done with school. My dad and his five brothers own the business. My older brother works there and I hope to do the same.
Kathleen Metallic
Hey everyone! I am Kathleen Metallic from Indianapolis, Indiana. Right now I am a freshman at Purdue. I do not know what major I will end up choosing but I know it has to be something that involves children. I was just recently initiated into Alpha Chi Omega.
My dad and seven of his brothers and sisters all went to Purdue. My older brother josh and my older sister Megan also went to Purdue. I am not sure about my younger sister Monica where she will end up going, but I would not be surprised if she will end up here too. I have been in catholic schools all my life, so Purdue is kind of an adjustment for me. I am used to uniforms and going to church. I graduated from Cathedral High School, Indianapolis, Indiana. Some of you might have heard of it but we were kind of a small school. About 1200 students all together.
In high school I was involved in softball until my junior year, when I unfortunately hurt my hip flexor. I was also involved in a few different service groups. My senoir class and I build a house for a woman and her five kids that we were sponsering through Habitat for Humanity. I was in G.U.T.S (girls united together to serve), and ACTS ( a chance to serve) which are both service organizations. I was a retreat leader, and an assistant kickball and volleyball coach for my little sisters team. This past year I also worked at nordstoms.
Katie Jones
Hey guys!! I am one of the many Katie's the walk Purdue's campus; however, there is a lot about me that makes me unique!
My name is Katie Jones, and I grew up in Greenwood, IN. Greenwood is about 20 minutes south of Indianapolis. For those of you who know the area, I went to Center Grove High School. I live with my parents, younger brother and sister, and dog. Both my mom and dad attended Purdue at some point in their college lives. In high school, I played softball all four years. I play both second base and shortstop. My team went to the state championship game my sophomore, junior, and senior years, and we won my junior year. I miss my friends from high school a lot, because most of them went to IU.
I'm so excited to be at Purdue. This was my first choice, and I did not even apply anywhere else. I am living in Owen Hall, with a friend from high school. Her name is Katie too. Weird huh? I love living in Owen. I think it has a great location. Macky and the football stadium are in its backyard, and the co-rec is only a short walk away. Also, it's not far from campus, and the new dining hall is just next door. I like working out, and right now I like to take the classes that the co-rec offers. I played intramural co-ed flag football this past semester, and I had a blast. Hopefully I will be able to play intramural softball as well!
Kelsy Swan
Hey everybody! My name is Kelsy Swan. My major is psychology and I'm from Wisconsin.
I feel like I have read so much information about all of you that I should share some facts about myself as well. I am from Racine, Wisconsin, which is in the southeastern corner of the state right on Lake Michigan. I live on a pumpkin farm and therefore have always grown up with tons of animals around me! I belong to a local 4H club in my area and show many of my animals at the county and state fair. In high school I played varisty tennis and was on varisty track all four years. My major is psychology and I hope to become either a school psychologist or a child psychologist in the future. I love working with children and spent last summer volunteering every morning at a local school helping with a first grade summer school program. I love the show survivor and plan on sending in an audition tape once I turn 21! I like to run everyday here at Purdue and play tennis whenever I can find someone to hit with! My one weakness is runnning shoes and own more than one person should ever own in there life time! I also love to travel and hope to study abroad more than once while at Purdue.
Kenzi McQueen
Hey there everyone! My name is Kenzi McQueen. I am a Landscape Architecture Major. I have a cold, but am feeling much better today than in the beginning of the week, so I thought I would tell you a bit about myself.
I grew-up not too far away north of Frankfort, about forty-five minutes east of here. Purdue University is a very different scene for me. My graduating class had seventy-three people in it (one of the bigger classes I might add!) The whole school, had just over three hundred people in it! While in high school, I was very involved in many things. These things included National Honor Society, Future Career and Community Leaders of America, Student Council, Class Officer for three years, Varsity Track three years, and J.V. Basketball. Even with all of the activities I did in high school, I think I may still be busier now!
Presently, I am involved in the Royal Highlanders Club. I am a freshman in the school of agriculture. My major is landscape architecture, but this may change. Although I am a freshman, I am ready to graduate! Some things I like to do in my scarce spare time are: tag-along on the farm with my boyfriend, do crosswords, read books, and play with my dog (not to mention baby-ing her to death.) Occasionally, I will ride horses when I get the chance, swing dance a bit (woo-hoo for Fountain Square), ride four wheelers, and help my dad with my favorite gals, the Studebaker and Firebird.
Kevin Alistair Lobo
hmmm.........still thinking, it might be a good idea to check back later and don't forget to facebook me!!
Michael Allen
Hello my name is Michael Allen. I am a freshman here at Purdue. My major is accounting and I am not sure what type of accounting I will be going into. I live in Wiley hall this year. I was on the soccer team at my high school for my freshman year. I like to play soccer, volleyball, and racquetball. If anyone would like to play raquetball you can let me know. I like to read to fantasy books. A couple of series that I like to read is Forgotten realms, Dragonlance, and The wheel of Time. I like The Lord of the Rings books and the movies. My favorite tv shows are smallville, the simpsons, family guy, and others.
Mo (Muhammed Khan)
Howzit? As we say back in Botswana. I’m from there, a huge country with a tiny population. I’ve lived there all my life, in the same house. Most of the furniture is still the same!! You could say it’s an antique house.I went to a school called Maru-a-Pula. It’s the best school in Botswana, and it was a two minute walk from my house. You could say I got a bit of the silver spoon. Most people did though, as there weren’t very many poor people. I graduated in 2001, with about 100 other people, but then went back and did my A-Level’s. You could call it a bridging course, even though it covers the first year of university. It’s an amazingly hard course!! I graduated again in June last year, and have been working for my uncle as an errand boy! I miss driving around all day! I used to play a lot of sports, cricket, hockey, tennis. Cricket mostly though. I managed to get myself into the Botswana national side. Though with all the bowling I used to do, I hurt my hip flexor muscle as well, thus not being able to play very many sports now. I captained the school field hockey team for about 2 years, we managed to beat the national side, which was just incredible. Big fluke!!
Nathan Enders
My name in Nathan Enders and I'm studying to be a civil engineer. I live in a small town, and in my town the cows outnumber the people five to
one, no lie. But I find it kind of creepy in a small town how everyone knows who
I am and where I live. But one thing I do like about a town is that I don't have
to deal with traffic and huge crowds.
Sarah Schmaltz
Hello everyone. My name is Sarah Schmaltz and I am currently a freshman in the school of education. I am planning on becoming an elementary school teacher. I would really love to teach young kids, possibly Kindergarten through third grade. It is my dream to teach at my old school, Dillsboro Elementary. My hometown, Dillsboro is a very small town in the south east corner of Indiana. It is in the region where Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana all meet. (It is closer to Cincinnati than Indianapolis) I really like the small town aspect. I like how everyone knows everything about you and just the atmosphere you are in while in a small town. My high school, South Dearborn, combined four cities/towns together. It is located in Aurora, Indiana. It is right along the Ohio River. The past few weeks, we have been dealing with a lot of flooding and school was almost canceled because a bridge leading to my high school was just about covered with all of the flood water. It has been a mess. It is getting better now. I am very dumb when it comes to computers, so I am sure that I will be asking some of you for help. Just thought I would give you a heads up. I am glad that we can communicate over the computer with each other.
Ubaldo Gaeta Jr.
Hey everyone, my name is Ubaldo Gaeta Jr. Im a sophmore in Art Education and this is my third semester here at Purdue. I spent my first semester in college at IUPUI ( Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis ) in the Herron School of Art. I was on scholarship down there but I hated Indianapolis and I didnt feel challenged by the school. My high school, Lafayette Jefferson, has a very advanced art program and this could attribute to me being bored with the material at Herron. Our graduating class in the art department brought in over 1 million in scholarship offers ( something im proud to boast ) and we were the number 1 public school in the nation in regards to art, and number 4 in all, behind 3 private schools. So yea, go Jeff. I'm bilingual, fluent in spanish and english. I'm spontaneous, yet really quiet unless you get to know me and even then im usually pretty reserved. Now night time is a different story, thats when my evil twin ( whom my roommates and friends have come to call Ace ) comes out. He's kinda the opposite of Ubaldo, but they're both too nice if you ask me. I was born in Chicago, Illinois and i only lived there for about one year. Nevertheless, I cant forget my roots ( GO CUBS! ). I lived in Los Angeles, California for about 10 years before my parents moved back to Lafayette where they had lived earlier before I was born. Most people look at me like im crazy when i tell them that i moved here from California, and ask why!?!?!?! I must admit it was quite a difficult change but i eventually got used to it and i can now say i'd rather live here. I think that a part of me could easily switch back to big city life, but at the moment i'm content here in boring Indiana. I like to be involved with alot of things i dont necessarily need to be involved in and i'm a huge procrastinator. You know what they say, "if you wait till the last minute to do it, it only takes a minute". Last semester i played for the Purdue Lacrosse team and i'm not sure if i'll play this spring because i think my grades took a hit due to the demanding schedule. I'm also involved with the Ambassador Club at Hilltop apartments. We have meetings once a week and try to organize functions, events, and decided how to use and spend the money. I'm also involved with PSNAEA and LSU clubs. I like to spend my free time at the Co-Rec, drawing, painting, photography, being rebellious, causing trouble, and being lazy. I like to travel to places i've never been to, and that includes taking some weekends to go to universities where i have friends so we can party and such. I occasionally go out to the frats here at Purdue but not as much as my first semester here. Burned myself out i guess, or got tired of groupies and jersey chasers haha.
